Luke's Birthday

Luke turned 1 on October 12th.
I.cannot.believe.it.has.been.a.year.
We were so lucky to have Grammie come visit for a whole week.  She got into town on the 11th so she was able to play for his family birthday party and his friend party.
The following pictures are from his actual birthday and from his party... (I will caption)...

I should have lowered his banner for the picture... When he was standing and reaching for it he could almost pull it down... the turkey is a little project that Aubrie made with Grammie that morning.

 Posing with Grammie...
 Interested in something else...
Toys R Us was our first stop. Grammie wanted to let each of them pick out a present...spoiled. They loved Thomas the train. They took turns and pushed each other around on it.

Aubrie ended up picking out an easel (like the one from preschool) for her to do her paintings on... and Luke picked out a ride-on fire engine. When we put it in the shopping cart he kept motioning to get on it so we let him ride around sitting on it inside the cart.  He LOVED that!
Our next stop was Party City.  We had to get some decorations/favors for his party and we had a fun time shopping around.

Aubrie picked out her Halloween bucket while we were there. She liked that it matched her costume.
She wanted this party hat but it was like 15 bucks so I vetoed it.

Aubrie loves her Grammie so much.  She asked when we will get to go on an airplane to Vegas for days after she left. She is still talking about it actually.

Daddy got home... so we opened presents... Aubrie was a great helper!
Luke got a ride-on BMW from mommy, daddy and Aubrie (garage sale!)... Aubrie loves it.

He opened his bulldozer from Aubrie...
He loves his ride-on fire engine (in the background of this picture)... and he looks so spiffy in his new jacket from Grammie and his sweet cuddly jammies!

Grammie and Aubs made wrapping paper snowballs and had a snowball fight!
For dinner we went to Sonny Bryans BBQ.  It was pretty yummy... then we headed home for cake!
Aubrie did ALL of the decorating all by herself... we picked out candies at Central Market to decorate it with... chocolate rocks, gummy letters and Halloween sprinkles.  She was so excited to eat her amazing creation. She got to blow out the candle on this one.
Luke got his own mini cake. He ate a few pieces but was not too interested.  I wasn't too surprised though... he isn't a huge eater... and not really into sugar yet.

We actually took a family picture. Craziness I tell you.
Then Aubrie got to blow out her candle and eat some cake too! I will get a video up sometime.
It was such a fun day and it was extra nice having Grammie here so we could spend it with family!! I can't believe my baby boy is a year old. It has gone by way too fast.

Mimosa Park
I wanted to keep his party as low key as possible because I didn't want to have to stress about a party for a 1 year old who doesn't really have friends of his own yet, so I figured the park would be the best place.  I figured that kids are great at entertaining themselves when there are big jungle gyms around!

I was originally going to do a Lego theme but decided just to pick a few colors and incorporate a few lego type things... nothing crazy... we got to the park and there was another party going on so I didn't get to set up until 45 minutes after we got there.  Needless to say I didn't end up putting up any of the decorations I had planned on (b-day banner, streamers, balloons)... but we had food and party hats!

We just kept it easy... pizzas popcorn, chips, grapes/raspberries, juice boxes, water, oreos and cupcakes.  It was so nice to be able to actually chat with some friends and enjoy ourselves.  I think Luke had a pretty great time. I know for sure that Aubrie did... the guest list consisted of her very best friends and her Grammie.

This is what Luke looks like most of the time...

 Goodie bags.
Present time. Luke got so many great toys. He now probably feels like a real boy since he has boy toys to play with.  He got a fun ball shooting light up toy (pictured), a mini football, some books about trucks, Bob the Builder movie, another ball, two construction trucks, and a semi-truck that carries cars. So spoiled.  We are so grateful to have such wonderful friends who came out to make his first birthday so special.

Luke passed out as soon as we got home (after his bath).  After all those new boy toys he wanted to hold Aubrie's wand as he fell asleep. Happy Birthday my sweet Lukie boy.
